Welcome to the exhilarating world of Olympic lifting! Join us on March 3rd, 2024, for a 2.5-hour workshop tailored for beginners eager to unleash their inner strength, power, and agility. Hosted at the Adventure Rock Walker’s Point Climbing Gym, this immersive introduction promises an exciting journey into the fundamentals of Olympic lifting. Whether you’re a novice seeking to build a solid foundation or an enthusiast aiming to refine your technique, our expert instructors will guide you through dynamic exercises, fostering a deep understanding of the snatch and clean and jerk movements and foundational movements to develop these skilled lifts. This workshop not only emphasizes the development of raw power but also introduces you to a community of like-minded individuals passionate about embracing the joy of movement. Expect a fusion of education and entertainment, as our seasoned coaches weave fun and interesting approaches into each exercise, ensuring an engaging and empowering experience. Get ready to lift, learn, and laugh your way to newfound strength in this dynamic and inclusive Olympic lifting adventure.

Meet your instructor:   

I’m Samantha LaValley, and I’m thrilled to guide you through our 8-week Semiprivate and Women’s- weight lifting classes. Here’s a bit about me:  

Originally from Zion, Illinois, right next to Gurnee – you know the town of that huge mall! High school was a breeze, graduating in the top 10% of my class and I was honored to score some sweet scholarships that helped me find my way to Carroll University. Initially diving into Psychology and Pre-Physical Therapy, I stumbled upon my passion for fitness in my last year. Through this passion I shed a whopping 80lbs and discovered a love for personal training that has stuck with me ever since.  

With 8 years under my belt, I bring a ton of experience to the table. I have worked to receive many certifications to back it up, including USA Weightlifting- Level 1, RRCA Running Coach- Level 1, and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. I continue to learn and expand my horizons through additional education for additional certifications in the fitness field.   

When I’m not helping folks like you crush their fitness goals, I’m also consider myself a bit of an adventurer. You name it – rock climbing, running, cycling, hiking, snowboarding, even skydiving! If it’s outdoors and has a touch of type 2 fun, count me in. I’m all about pushing boundaries and embracing the great outdoors.  

Excited to embark on this fitness journey with you! Let’s lift, laugh, and maybe break a boundary or two together.
